Richard is a Chartered Civil and Structural engineer with thirty
five years experience in engineering consultancies and nationalised
industry. He holds a Masters degree in Construction Law and
Arbitration, gained with Merit. His studies included a dissertation
on the efficiency of the single joint witness based in part
on his own experiences in this role. Richard has worked as an
independent consulting engineer since 1997, offering project
management, engineering design and support to parties in dispute.
In addition to a sound base of engineering experience, Richard's
project management experience includes the preparation of feasibility
studies with cost estimates for capital expenditure approvals
and overall scheme programmes.
Richard's dispute resolution experience includes giving evidence
in court and at public enquiries, preparing numerous reports
on defective structures and civil engineering works for dispute
and insurance claims, and taking a lead role in preparing a
dispute to go to expert determination. Richard has been closely
involved with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations
since their inception and is an experienced CDM Co-ordinator.
Richard was Branch Chairman from 2006 to 2008, and acted as
Branch Treasurer for many years. Richard currently sits on the
committee for the Yorkshire Branch of the Institute of Structural
Engineers. |
